Question 1

Who do you work with?

Accepted Answer

Mostly small and medium-sized businesses: owner-run firms and growing teams that have outgrown spreadsheets and email but do not need an enterprise platform. We also advise larger organisations on security and architecture.

Question 2

Do I own what you build?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On handover you receive the source code, the documentation and a full export of your data. Any third-party components keep their own licences, and we list them.

Question 3

Is it a fixed price or by the hour?

Accepted Answer

Discovery and security reviews are fixed price. Builds are quoted from the plan, either fixed scope or phased with a cap, so you know the most it can cost before you start.

Question 4

How long does a project take?

Accepted Answer

A first useful version is usually weeks, not months, because we build in small stages and show you working software as we go. Discovery tells you more precisely.

Question 5

Can you work with the systems we already use?

Accepted Answer

Usually, yes. We connect to email, calendars, accounting packages and other tools, and we move your data in from spreadsheets and old systems. If a system cannot be connected, we say so early.

Question 6

Where will our data be kept?

Accepted Answer

That is a decision we make with you. Some businesses want data on their own computers with an encrypted backup. Others need a hosted system for a team. We explain the trade-offs and recommend one.

Question 7

What about security and data protection?

Accepted Answer

We plan for them from the first conversation and test them before you rely on the system. We can also review systems you already have. We help you prepare for data protection duties, but we are not a law firm and will tell you when you need one.

Question 8

Will you sign a confidentiality agreement?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Send yours or ask for ours before you tell us anything sensitive.

Question 9

Can you take over a system someone else built?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. We start with a short review of what is there, what is risky and what it would cost to keep, fix or replace it. We will say if starting again is cheaper.

Question 10

Do we need technical people on our side?

Accepted Answer

No. We explain things in plain English and do the technical work. If you have technical staff, we work alongside them and coach them.

Question 11

What happens after it goes live?

Accepted Answer

You can run it yourself, or take a monthly care plan that keeps it updated, backed up and improving. Either way, nothing is locked in.

Question 12

What if our needs change halfway?

Accepted Answer

They usually do, and that is why we build in small stages. You can change direction at the end of any stage, and we will tell you what that does to the cost.
